The FaceTime Blur Feature You Might Want To Use

How to use the blur feature on facetime

To use the portrait mode in Facetime, you must run at least iOS 15 on the iPhone and iPad or Macos Monterey 12 on Mac with Apple Silicon. First of all you have to be in a video call before you can obscure the background. If you use an iPhone or iPad, the easiest way to turn on the portrait mode is to tap the video, then the face icon in the upper left corner (via Apple). This will immediately switch your video to portrait mode.

Another way you can turn on the feature when using iPad or iPhone is at the control center. To do this in this way, slide down from the upper right corner of the device to open the control center, then tap the video effect> portrait. Slide up from the bottom of the screen to return to Facetime. You can always turn off portrait mode using this same method. You might not see your blurred background at first unless you knock your own video again to enlarge it. The background will run away a little, so some large objects may still be seen.
